- The ever-reliable “sit” command – This is one of those very basic commands that dogs can easily understand and follow. It is so easy that all you have to do is say the word and do some actions for the dog to copy. If he finds it quite a challenge to follow your actions, you can hold a treat in your hand as if placing it over his nose and then slowly move towards the back. Doing this would make your dog follow the treat until he finish up in a sitting position. Once he sits, offer your dog some treats and don’t forget to praise him.
- The amazing “come” command – Many dog owners call this amazing for the very reason that they find their dogs exceptional the moment this command is followed. So, if you want to see your dog do this, all you have to do is call your dog by his name and do a “come here” hand gesture. You can likewise tap your hand to the place you want your dog to go. Once he comes up to you, make it a point to praise him and give his reward.
- The incredible “fetch” command – There are particular dog breeds that aren’t into fetching. They are those dogs that aren’t people-pleasers and they do such command only for very important reasons. But, if you still want to teach your dog this incredible command, all you have to do is look for something to throw such as a small toy and speak of the word “fetch”. If he doesn’t get it, try to gesture it (even if you’ll look crazy) or do it over again until he perfects the command.
- The superb “take it and leave it” command – This is going to be a bit of a challenge, but once your dog learns how to follow this dog training command, you sure will get to enjoy a superb and smart dog. You can do this by placing a treat, toy or anything in your hand. Call your dog and say the words, “leave it”, then close your hand. After few seconds, open your hand and say the words, “take it”. Do this over again until your dog learns the command.
